When officers arrived, they exchanged words with 20-year-old Nerus Amon McNair, who they say then pulled out a gun and fired at the officers.
The officers returned fire, but McNair ran into the house.
An Emergency Response Team was called in and McNair was taken into custody.
McNair was shot in the shoulder during the incident, but his injury is non-life threatening. Another person inside the home also received non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured.
McNair will be charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police say he has a lengthy criminal record that includes burglary and possession of stolen property.
