Former Durham officer charged with second DWI

DURHAM According to warrants, Nathan Edward Keith was pulled over when an officer spotted his vehicle swerving around 7:30pm Friday.

His blood alcohol content was .17, which is more than twice the legal limit.

This is the second DWI charge Keith has faced.

In November of 2009 a DPD spokesperson confirmed that Officer N.E. Keith was arrested and charged with a DWI on Interstate 85 near Hillandale Road. He was placed on administrative leave after he was arrested but didn't immediately lose his job.

A Durham police spokesperson says Keith is no longer with the department, but could not confirm when he officially left. The spokesperson also did not know whether he was fired or had resigned.
