Rabid fox found in Cary

CARY The animal was found under a deck of a home in the 300 block of Vintage Hill Circle near Ten-Ten Road on Monday.

Animal Control officers in Cary say the fox texted positive for rabies.

The dogs were not injured, but they are being checked out as a necessary precaution.

It is the first case of rabies in the town this year. The last reported case was in September 2009.

Authorities are reminding residents to use caution when dealing with any animal that may be suspicious or may have come in contact with a suspicious animal.

They say if you suspect a rabid animal, contact Cary Animal Control immediately at (919) 319-4517 or call your local veterinarian.
