911 caller says Apex woman shot husband

WAKE COUNTY

It happened around 4 p.m. at a home located in the 4000 block of Brook Cross Drive.

Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said Monday that Donna Evans was killed. Her husband John was in critical condition at WakeMed.

In the 911 call, an unidentified woman says she was in the shower when she heard the shooting and she ran to the room where it happened right afterwards.

A man can be heard shouting in the background during the call.

The caller says there are two people wounded in the room.

"He says she shot him," the caller reports.

The caller says the man was shot "in the gut," and the woman is lying face down on the floor.

She stays on the phone with the 911 operator until paramedics arrive.

Harrison has said the crime was not a random act and neighbors have no reason to worry about a shooter on the loose. He has not released any other details.

The woman who made the 911 call has not been identified.

ABC11 has learned John Evans is a chef who owns a catering business in Cary called Chef John's.
