Cracked pipe led to boil water advisory

FAYETTEVILLE Last Thursday, a main water line at the Hoffer Plant off Ramsey Street broke causing a large portion of the city to lose water for hours.

A boil water advisory followed for three days, because officials said bacteria could have contaminated the water supply through the break.

PWC says the problem has been traced to a chip or crack in the wall of the main water line, but they're not sure what caused the crack.

Officials say the broken section has been removed and is being replaced.

They are still waiting for tests to confirm that the water supply was clean.
