Man charged with torturing, killing dog

RALEIGH Investigators arrested Daniel Hurley for the crime, charging him with felony cruelty to animals.

Eyewitnesses told police they heard banging and squealing, then saw Hurley dump a dog from a crate into his backyard.

The dog was identified as a one-year-old female Jack Russell Terrier named Sweet Pea.

Hurley's bond was set at $10,000.
