No charges in assisted living death

A 93-year old woman died of complications from surgery after another resident at an assisted living facility at 600 Newton Road pushed her down on Sunday.

Raleigh Police said Rozena Barham Watkins was pushed by another elderly female resident, who “possesses pronounced age-related diminished mental capacity.”

After consulting with the Wake County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that no charges would be filed.

A relative told Eyewitness News the Watkins family agreed with the decision, and while they are devastated, it appeared to be a tragic accident.
