Teen hit by truck

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an accident involving a pedestrian and a truck.

It happened Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Jack and Lillian roads in Clayton.

According to eyewitnesses the 16-year-old had just checked the mail on Jack Road when he was hit by a truck. It threw him into the air and he landed about 70 feet from the mailbox.

The teen was taken to WakeMed, but his condition is not known.

Authorities have not said if the driver of the truck will be charged.
