NC solider killed in Afghanistan helicopter crash

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C.

The Defense Department said Monday that 29-year-old Chief Warrant Officer Terry Varnadore of Arden died on Saturday in the Kapisa Province in the northeastern part of country.

Officials said Varnadore died of wounds suffered when the helicopter he was co-piloting crashed.

The accident is under investigation.

Varnadore was deployed to Afghanistan in October. He was assigned to the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, N.Y. He leaves behind a wife and child.
