Authorities shut down Cumberland meth lab

CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Thomas Franklin Norris, 55, is charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a precursor and maintaining a dwelling for the manufacturing and sell of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by felon and possession of a firearm of mass destruction.

He lives on the property where authorities found the lab.

Agents obtained a warrant to search the property Tuesday after complaints from concerned citizens. Authorities found a stationary lab and various items used to manufacture methamphetamine. They found plastic tubing, buckets, bottles and other hazardous materials used to manufacture meth. Agents also seized gallon jars of what is believed to be meth.

The suspected drug is being testing at an SBI lab. If the substance tests positive for meth, additional charges will be forthcoming.
