They say Proffitt pointed the gun at his wife and threatened to kill her after an argument. No one was hurt.
Proffitt is charged with first-degree kidnapping, possession of a firearm by felon and assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present.
He is currently being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. Proffitt will make a first court appearance Monday afternoon.
