Six-year-old saves grandmother

CUMBERLAND COUNTY

The pair were walking together along Highway 401 Sunday when Gales, who is diabetic, became disoriented.

"Right after we crossed the bridge my blood sugar dropped and I wasn't sure where I was at," she said.

While Gales was able to dial 911 on her cell phone, she couldn't tell the operator where she was.

"And when you see a red building, there's a truck and a white garage. If you see that, go there," 6-year-old Corey told the operator in the call.

Corey stayed cool while on the phone and signaled rescue workers who were looking for them.

"I'm very proud of him. He saved my life. He really did," said Gales.
