Edwards in NC courtroom for hearing

GREENSBORO

Judge Carlton Tilley delayed the case until July. Tilley said he wants prosecutors and defense attorneys to come to an agreement about how and when documents will be released before going further.

Edwards, a two-time Democratic presidential candidate and former U.S. Senator, was charged after a two-year investigation into whether he used campaign contributions to cover up an extramarital affair.

He has pleaded not guilty to four counts of illegal campaign contributions and charges of conspiracy and making false statements.

Edwards greeted reporters but did not respond to questions about the case when he arrived at the courthouse.
