Second arrest in Raleigh poker shooting

RALEIGH

Thirty-four-year-old Gregg Alexander Maluchnik lives at the home in the 4000 block of Sweetbriar Drive where the attempted robbery occurred around 11 p.m. Monday evening

Police say 28-year-old Brandon Dwain Shelton and 23-year-old Brian Matthew Onley entered the home armed and wearing masks in an attempt to rob a card game going on inside. There was a struggle and both men were shot.

Shelton was killed. Onley was wounded in the arm. He was released from WakeMed Wednesday and charged with 11 counts of armed robbery and with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

A Raleigh police spokesperson said the investigation into the incident and the gambling operation was continuing and a decision on more charges would be made after a consultation with prosecutors.
