Patrol says Trooper saved woman's life

PITT COUNTY

In a news release, the Patrol said Trooper W.D. Coley was on patrol on Stantonsburg Road around 10:15 Saturday morning when he saw a Jeep driving erratically.

He stopped the SUV and found the 54-year-old driver suffering breathing problems.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the Patrol says Coley decided to drive the woman to Pitt County Memorial Hospital rather than wait for an ambulance to get to him.

The Patrol said without Coley's intervention, the woman could have died behind the wheel or hit someone.

"Trooper Coley is to be commended for his quick response to a life or death situation where his actions certainly prevented a serious condition from becoming tragic," said the Patrol in a statement.
