Three wanted in elderly man's murder

FAYETTEVILLE Police say 71-year-old August Hosack was shot while in his car on Orlando Street, which is in the Massey Hill community just off Camden Road.

His family says Hosack was shot in the leg and bled to death. His body was discovered on July 25. They think robbery was the motive.

Fayetteville police have identified three suspects - 27-year-old LaQuin "Shorty" Lamar Corbin, 35-year-old Amy Yarboro Collins (also known as "Amy Yarboro") and 22-year-old Joseph "Joe" Luther Lewis - who are believed to be responsible for Hosack's murder.

Warrants for arrest have been issued for first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

"You wonder who would rob somebody and shoot them, and not have remorse," Hosack's son Bob Hosack said. "He would give you the shirt off his back; he helped a lot of people in the community."

Family members believe he may have given someone a ride or was going to or coming back from his church a few blocks away.

Family members say they are ready to forgive the killers if they give themselves up.

"I'm ready for closure, it would be nice if they would turn themselves in just for the closure," Bob Hosack said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the three suspects or information on the crime can call Homicide Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 549-7326 or CrimeStoppers (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
