Shots fired outside a Raleigh nightclub

RALEIGH

Investigators say around 2:30 a.m., shots were fired outside the nightclub.

Authorities say one male victim was taken to Wake Med and later died at the hospital. His identity has not been released.

The shooting left most of the road blocked Sunday morning while investigators gathered evidence.

Mary Teasley said she came to church and was greeted by the crime tape.

"You go, you might run into this sort of thing, but to come and worship, you expect for it to be peaceful, but sometimes you don't get that," Teasley said.

Witnesses told ABC11 that the Velvet Room and another nightclub down the street had just reportedly closed, and as people poured into the streets that's when the violence began.

Many hours after the shooting some club goers returned to pick up their vehicles, but because it was an active crime scene they had to wait until investigators were finished.

The case is being investigated by Raleigh Police, anyone with information is asked to contact Raleigh Crime stoppers, and may do so anonymously.
