Authorities say 54-year-old Jerry Wayne Morgan of Sidneys Way was working on a vehicle in the 2700 block of Cheek Road around 8 p.m. Thursday when a woman approached him.
The pair allegedly exchanged words and the woman then shot Morgan. The woman fled the scene in a burgundy Oldsmobile Bravada.
Morgan was transported to Durham Regional Hospital where he later died.
Police have not filed any charges at this time.
