Mother, son arrested during son's pretrial

HALIFAX COUNTY

Their arrests came during jury selection in the trial against 38-year-old Antwan Clanton for felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, and injury to personal property.

During the procedure, Clanton's mother, 55-year-old Lillian Clanton of Weldon, became verbally disruptive in the courtroom. Deputies had to arrest Lillian Clanton after her behavior continued.

As deputies removed her, her son became disruptive, turning over a table and resisting deputies efforts to restrain him. Clanton had to be Tazered in order for deputies to gain control.

Lillian Clanton was charged with disorderly conduct in a public building and contempt of court. She was jailed under no bond.

Further charges are pending for Antwan Clanton. He remains in the county jail in lieu of his convictions.
