Woman killed in morning wreck

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, Morgan Freeman, 23, of Hillsborough, was driving a black Nissan Altima on Highway 70 near Palmers Grove Church Road, when she ran off the road to the right, overcorrected, then ran off the road to the left, and hit a tree.

Her passenger, Jessie Sturms, 20, also of Hillsborough, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Freeman was ejected during the crash and airlifted to UNC Hospital, but her condition is not known.

Troopers say both alcohol and speed were factors in the wreck.
