Chapel Hill homeowner shot by intruder

CHAPEL HILL

The homeowner, 34-year-old Bryan Hinton, had just pulled into his driveway after taking his daughter shopping when he confronted three men leaving his home.

"He hollered at them," said Kevin Gunter with the Chapel Hill Police Department. "One of them actually turned with a handgun and fired one shot that struck him in the left leg."

ABC 11 has learned that Hinton is out of the hospital and recovering.

The suspects got away with nearly $1,000 worth of computer equipment and video games.

A K-9 unit tracked their trail but lost it.

Chapel Hill police are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of those three dangerous suspects to give them a call.
