January 11, 2012 12:14:24 PM PST
The Wake County School System is now under a hiring freeze, which means no new teachers will be hired for the 2012-2013 school year.

Superintendent Tony Tata made the announcement during Tuesday's board meeting.

While the hiring of teachers is restricted, positions such as principals, bookkeepers, data managers and lead secretaries can still be filled.

Wake County is the largest school system in the state.
