It happened in the 200 block of Spears Drive, near Raeford Road, just after 1 p.m.
The home owner called 911 when he returned home and found a side window broken.
Ron Vaughn told ABC11 that he waited for police to arrive and then they went inside. That's when the body of 28-year-old Brandon Lane Stocum was found laying in a hallway near the bathroom. Vaughn said police told him Stocum was clutching a prescription drug bottle.
It is still unclear what Stocum was doing inside the home.
Vaughn said he did not know Stocum.
The medical examiner will determine exactly how Stocum died.
