Authorities said severe weather is to blame at a house fire in Clayton.

Officials said lightning struck a two-story home in the 800 block of Swift Creek Road around 7 p.m. Saturday.

No one was home at the time, and crews were able to get the fire under control quickly.

The fire disrupted cable and phone service to nearby neighbors, but Progress Energy and Time Warner Crews have since restored it.
