Residents could have been exposed to rabid bats

FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C.

They want to speak with anyone who has lived in - or stayed at - the complex since December 14, 2010. If you have, call the FCHD Communicable Disease Nurse at (919) 496-2533.

Officials said anyone who might have been exposed to bats needs to get preventive rabies treatment immediately.

Rabies is a fatal disease but can be prevented if treatment is begun as soon as possible after an exposure is recognized.
