A record high was tied on Saturday as the temperature hit 102 degrees, tying the previous record from 2010.
Sunday's record of 103 set in 1977 may also be broken, with a forecast high of 102. Sunday will make the sixth straight day that temperatures have hit the century mark in the Triangle.
However, there will be changes on the way heading into the upcoming week. Although there may be higher humidity, with more clouds, showers and thunderstorms each day of the upcoming week, temperatures are expected to decrease significantly.
"In response to the clouds and wetter weather, we expect high temperatures to settle back into the middle 80s, actually a bit below normal for this time of the year," ABC11 meteorologist Steve Stewart said.
