Ervin Purcell Moore, 41, was charged with robbing the Shell convenience store on West Main Street on June 30 and July 2.
On June 30, a male entered the business around 4:45 p.m., put something against the back of the clerk's head and took cash from the register. On July 2, the same man entered the business and threatened to shoot the clerk if she did not give him money. The man took cash from the business and a cell phone from the clerk.
Moore was also charged with beating a man with a wooden cane and taking cash and a phone from him June 26 in the 1300 block of Holloway Street. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Moore was charged with four counts of armed robbery, one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, one count of first-degree kidnapping and one count of public consumption of alcohol. He was placed in Durham County Jail under a $2,250,000 bond.
