Funeral arrangements set for slain officer

LUMBERTON, N.C

Master Police Officer Jeremiah Goodson Jr. was trying to serve a warrant Tuesday when police said the suspect, 27-year-old Marques Brown, opened fire. Brown is now behind bars and charged with first-degree murder.

There will be two viewings for Goodson on Monday, July 23. The first will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at Colvin Funeral Home at 1904 East Elizabethtown Road in Lumberton.

The second will be held at Lumberton Senior High School, which is located at 3901 Fayetteville Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. Goodson served as a school resource officer at Lumberton High.

Goodson's funeral will be held Tuesday, July 24 at 11 a.m. at the high school.

He will be buried at the Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
