Officials search for robbery, shooting suspect

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C.

The Halifax County Sheriff Office's responded to the armed robbery in the Brandy Creek area of Roanoke Rapids on July 12.  

The victim told deputies he was robbed and beaten with a handgun. The suspects then left in a vehicle and the victim followed. The victim said once they got on I-95 North, the suspects shot at the victim's vehicle.

The victim then pulled over and waited for EMS to arrive. He was transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center for his injuries.

The Emporia Police Department, located the suspects' vehicle and took two suspects into custody with the third still at large.

The two suspects that are in custody are 16-year-old Donavan Edwards, of Roanoke Rapids, and 16-year-old Sequan Carter, of Littleton.

The third suspect, 23-year-old Jeremiah Mangum, of Roanoke Rapids, fled on foot.

The two suspects in custody are being held in Virginia awaiting extradition back to Halifax County.
