Troopers said the SUV hydroplaned on Old Dam Road in the town of O'Neals. The SUV hit the bridge guardrail then fell into the creek below.
There were four people inside the vehicle. A 24-year-old mother, Ana Contreras-Patino, a 43-year-old grandmother and two children, ages 3 and 5, were all taken to the hospital. They were all wearing seatbelts and suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Contreras-Patino relieved the terrifying moments of the crash to ABC11 Wednesday.
It was the screams of her young children, asking for help that brought Contreras-Patino back after she blanked out. She said it was raining and for some reason, the SUV hydroplaned and Ana lost control of the vehicle.
Contreras-Patino was cited for driving with an expired license and failure to maintain lane control.
The DOT has shut down the bridge to make repairs.
