Name the I-40/440 construction project

RALEIGH

What should we call Raleigh's major road project on I-40/440?

The N.C. Department of Transportation is asking the creative and funny people of the Triangle to help name the project on I-40/440 in Wake County, which will begin next spring and is expected to last three years.

The major rebuild of 11 miles on I-40/440 -- from U.S. Highway 1 in Cary to U.S. Highway 64/264 in Raleigh – will require lane closures, sometimes leaving open just two lanes of travel.

That section of highway is 30 years old, and workers need to dig down at least two feet to remove and replace concrete and asphalt on the road, shoulders and ramps.

The winning name will be used in all future references to the project. It will also be part of the website name that will provide information about the I-40/440 rebuild. The winner will be publicly announced and will get major bragging rights.
