It happened in the 8000 block of Elliott Bridge Road around 10:30 p.m.
The "Community Trade Center" was gutted by fire. First units on the scene reported heavy flames and smoke showing through the roof and store’s front windows.
The convenient store sits across the road from a neighborhood, and there was concern the flames might ignite the store's nearby gas tanks.
Quick work by fire crews from Harnett and Cumberland counties helped keep the flames from spreading. No homes were evacuated.
The Harnett county fire marshal hasn't said yet what caused the fire. No one was hurt.
