Official: Bear out of Sanford tree

SANFORD, N.C.

The young black bear climbed a tree near the Employment Security Commission in the 1900 block of Lee Avenue Wednesday morning.

The bear was about ten feet off the ground.

Wildlife Officer Bryan Scruggs said it was probably a teenager bear that got pushed out of its territory by an older bear. This is mating season so bears are on the move.

A dog apparently chased the bear up the tree around 10 a.m.

Wildlife officers told ABC11 that the bear came down from the tree around 9:30 p.m. and wandered off into the woods.
