Detectives said it appears two men came in through the window of an apartment bedroom just before 11 p.m. Wednesday evening. When a woman in the apartment came into the room, the men ordered her to the floor at gunpoint and then tried to leave.
Police said the suspects encountered two other men in a breezeway as they exited the apartment and a struggle began.
Ron-Tel Vincae Royster, 22, of Efland was shot. He was taken to UNC Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
The two suspects were last seen running in the direction of South Third Street. Police used a dog to try and track them, but came up empty.
