Parents have complained about late buses, students on the wrong bus, and long bus rides for their children.
"There are no excuses for what happened, and we are committed to fixing the problem," Superintendent Tony Tata said in a statement. "If we determine more buses are needed, we will continue to add them until the issue is resolved."
Updated bus routes will be published on the WCPSS website .
District officials added four buses on Tuesday and seven more on Friday. On Tuesday, September 4, the district will add another 16 buses to its routes.
Tata has blamed some of the problems on money. With state funding shrinking, the district has been forced to choose between classroom or transportation cuts.
Officials said they calculated they'd need more buses this year because of growth, but ended up taking 48 buses off the road.
