Durham shooting suspects arrested

DURHAM, N.C.

The shooting happened in front of an apartment on South Roxboro Street just after 1 a.m. Police said a party was going on inside the residence at the time and a an 18-year-old male was shot multiple times.

Police were able to arrest 17-year-old Derek Antonio Huggins Aug. 25, but were still looking for two additional suspects. Huggins is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and simple assault. He was placed in the Durham County Jail under a $575,000 bond.

On Friday police arrested 19-year-old Torico Antonio Edwards Jr. Officials said 21-year-old Darren Devon Taylor Jr. was arrested Sunday. Taylor is being held under a $750,000 bond in the Durham County Jail.

Edwards and Taylor are both charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Edwards is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Taylor is also charged with simple assault, kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with a prior incident.
