Deputies responded to a home on the 700 block of Hodges Chapel Road in Dunn to find 58-year-old James Elmore dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
His wife, Jennifer Elmore, was also present at the scene and was transported to Harnett Health Betsy Johnson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
This incident is under investigation and at the present time it does not appear any other persons are involved.
