String of arsons reported in Durham

DURHAM, N.C.

The fires have been set in dumpsters, trash cans and donations bins near buildings in the Ninth Street and Hillsborough Road area since Sept. 1. Most of the fires have been set between 11:30 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Investigators from the Durham Police Department and Durham Fire Department are asking for information about the following fires:

  • Sept. 1 at12:54 a.m. – a fire was set in the doorway of a business at the intersection of Ninth Street and Green Street
  • Sept. 4 – fire started in trash container near Blue Ridge Realty at 811 Ninth St. It is not known when the fire was set
  • Sept. 10 at 12:32 a.m. – fire started in two trash cans by Dales Indian Cuisine, 811 Ninth St.
  • Sept. 10 at 11:52 p.m. – fire started in a Dumpster by E.K. Powe Elementary School, 913 Ninth St.
  • Sept. 17 at 12:04 a.m. – fire started in a clothing donation bin at Blu Seafood and Bar, corner of Ninth Street and Hillsborough Road
  • Sept. 17 at 12:49 a.m. – a trash can was set on fire by UPS, 811 Ninth St.

No one has been injured in the fires.
