Officials arrested 30-year-old Rhonda Hagan, of Newport on Wednesday.
Hagan is accused of murdering her great aunt Goldie Hall last Thursday. The murder allegedly took place the same day Hall's residence went up in flames.
Hall was last seen the day before, and her body has not been found.The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Hagan has been charged with one open count of murder and is being held in the Carteret County Jail without bond. She is scheduled for her first court appearance on Thursday.
