The State Bureau of Investigation, officials with the NC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the North Carolina Highway Patrol, and others, all took part in a search near the intersection of Mary Chapel Road and Cemetery Road in Scotland Neck on Thursday.
They were looking for traces of Jalesa Reynolds, who was last seen in Halifax County on Feb. 22, 2010.
Scotland Neck police said Reynolds used a public computer at the Scotland Neck Memorial Library. Records indicate she logged onto a social networking website around 11 a.m., and almost three hours later, she logged onto a computer at a residence on Cemetery Road, which is about 1.5 miles northwest of town. Police believe she left the home between 2 and 3 p.m.
Officials did not say Thursday what information has prompted the new search. Officers were expected to return to the area Friday.
The search has been planned for at least five months. It's expected to last three days.
