Gov. Beverly Perdue spoke at Saturday morning's official state ceremony on the old capitol grounds in downtown Raleigh.
The commander of the state's American Legion, a U.S. deputy surgeon general and a one-star Army general at the Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg were also in attendance.
Several hundred people lined the downtown Raleigh streets as a parade preceded Veterans Day ceremony.
ABC11's Larry Stogner served as the master of ceremonies.
