Community fights church over joyful noise

DURHAM, N.C.

The homes are separated from the New Hope Church by a wooded buffer zone and the American Tobacco Trail.

Homeowners complained to ABC11 that the joyful noise from the church becomes too noisy at least three nights a week. Some residents believe the disturbance violates the city's noise ordinance.

The concerned residents have appealed to city hall, and Mayor Bill Bell scheduled a mediation meeting for Nov. 19.
