The guard's Morrisville-based Operational Support Airlift Command Detachment 17 came home Wednesday afternoon. The unit arrived at the Army Aviation Support Facility No. 1, which is adjacent to Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
The unit deployed eight months ago and provided air transport for high-priority passengers and cargo in direct support of combat and contingency operations.
The detachment received its federal recognition in January 1996, and is part of a fleet of aircraft controlled by the Operational Support Airlift Agency at Fort Belvoir, Va. The unit flies the C-26 Metroliner, a 19-passenger, fixed-wing, propeller-driven aircraft.
