"Your haves and the have-nots all meet here today and it's just a wonderful time for everybody to have just an enjoyable time," explained Dr. Earnie Mills, CEO of the Mission.
Nearly 400 volunteers came out to serve.
In all, 80 turkeys were cooked, 489 meals served, 5000 clothing items given out, and 299 bags of groceries were given away.
Volunteers even delivered 183 meals to people who couldn't get to the Mission by themselves.
"Because this is Thanksgiving, we just thought that since we're appreciative of the stuff we have, that we should help them out with what they don't have," explained volunteer Ayanna Webster.
The Rescue Mission doesn't just serve on Thanksgiving. Its mission is year-round. To learn more, go to www.durhamrescuemission.org.
