One board member told ABC11 she wants to make sure all teachers get an hour a week of professional training, but she said schools should be able to decide for themselves how and when that should happen.
Two years ago, the board required all schools to let out early on Wednesday, which drew complaints from parents who had to shift their schedules around.
"We need to learn from the past that a one size fits all for every week doesn't work," said school board member Christine Kushner, "but where we can find those efficiencies with transportation, again, we need to find those solutions for the whole county."
Kushner said the board will likely standardize six early release days for teacher development. She said they will pick those days next year and may consider Fridays before long weekends.
