Just before 2 a.m., authorities said 20-year-old Zachary Lewis Erlemann of Cary led two store customers at knife point to the back of the store at 511 West Williams Street where the pharmacy was located.
According to Apex police, the suspect wanted prescription medication and attempted to rob the pharmacist.
During the encounter, one of the customers -- Michael Weaver of Durham -- tried to restrain Erlemann. An altercation ensued, leading to Weaver being stabbed in the arm and Erlemann suffering a broken nose.
Police said Erlemann fled the scene, but was later arrested a block away from the drug store.
Authorities have charged Erlemann with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries, first-degree kidnapping, and two counts of second-degree kidnapping.
