Messages on Twitter, allegedly sent by a young man who claimed to be friends with Faith, may shed light on the case.
It's been nearly three months since Hedgepeth's murder and there's still been no arrest.
However, someone identifying themselves as Takoy Jones, the ex-boyfriend of Hedgepeth's roommate, sent this tweet to local news stations, saying: "Takoy Jones' name is clear"... suggesting he may have been a person of interest in the case.
The writer, still identifying themselves as Jones, goes on to say, "He's glad it's over.., that he never lost any sleep over it."
Hedgepeth's brother said it was a hurtful comment.
"I mean obviously, his tweets really don't acknowledge the fact that my sister is still dead and somebody took her life," said Chad Hedgepeth. "If they were looking at him hard and focusing attention on him and they've cleared him then maybe at this point maybe they're focusing on putting their attention to whoever did this."
Hedgepeth was found dead inside her Chapel Hill apartment in early September.
It was the same apartment where just last summer, Jones, Hedgepeth's roommate's boyfriend became the focus of restraining order after a violent episode there.
Faith's sister recently told aBC11 how Hedgepeth tried to help her friend through that difficult time.
"She just did not believe in any type of abuse in a relationship," said Rolanda Hedgepeth. "She was trying to help."
While police have not named any persons of interests in the case, Jones has been the focus of numerous news reports. He talked to ABC11 the night faith was discovered, expressing his remorse.
"Faith was serious. I'm still in shock," said Jones.
The person using his name took to Twitter saying they're calling out people who doubted him.
Meanwhile, Faith's family says they're still waiting on word from investigators, hoping the case will soon be solved.
"I do wish the police would share something -- give us some kind of information," said Chad Hedgepeth. "We've been asking for weeks on end."
ABC11 tried contacting Takoy Jones. We even responding to the tweet sent to our newsroom, but we got no response. As for the police, they declined to comment.
Meanwhile, the Chapel Hill Police Department continues to appeal to anyone with information about the death of Hedgepeth to call the police department's tip line at (919) 614-6363.
Tips can also be made to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at (919) 942-7515.
