The six-mile section is the final section of North Carolina's first toll road.
While the road will be open to traffic, tolls will not be collected from U.S. 64 to N.C. 55 until Jan. 2.
"We are proud to have completed the road ahead of schedule," said Turnpike Authority Director David Joyner. "These three new tolling gantries will not be fully operational until Jan. 2, 2013, but the road is ready so we encourage motorists to begin using it."
Tolling is already in place on the first two sections of the Triangle Expressway. Anyone who uses the first two sections of the road will be charged either via mail or NC Quick Pass account.
