The North Carolina Department of Transportation said Thursday that some of its NC Quick Pass toll transponders will work in other states that use the E-ZPass system.
The change specifically applies to "hard case" NC Quick Passes. The less expensive sticker types will not function in all 15 states that use E-ZPasses.
"NC Quick Pass customers who have hard cases can now travel from North Carolina to Maine, or west to Illinois, utilizing the convenience of all-electronic tolling," said NC Turnpike Authority Executive Director David Joyner in a news release announcing the change.
Tolls from other states will be automatically deducted from North Carolina toll collection accounts.
