Troopers said the truck was traveling west on N.C. Highway 24/27 around 3:30 p.m. when the driver crossed the center line, went off the left side of the road, hit a ditch, went airborne, and then collided with a tree.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours following the crash.
